My name is Loren Benoit. I stand to document the stories of life through the medium of photography and multimedia. I constantly search with my eyes and heart for moments filled with action and emotion, and I firmly believe that photojournalism helps us connect to one another. People are valuable, and so are their stories.
My interest in photography first began in middle school when I traveled to Mt. Rainier with my family. I was blown away by the sounds of birds chirping, the smell of the wildflowers, and how vast Mt. Rainier was in front of me. I was awe struck. After that I began photographing nature. A few years later I started taking photos for my high school's newspaper and yearbook. I then graduated from the University of Montana School of Journalism.
I have previously worked for The Missoulian as an intern and The Coeur d'Alene Press as a photographer and photo editor. I am currently a photojournalist at The Wenatchee World newspaper in Wenatchee, Washington where I photograph news, spot news, human interest features, businesses, magazine features, and sports.
When I am not behind the camera, I enjoy watching and playing baseball/softball, snowboarding, reading, traveling, going for drives, listening to music, and watching drum and bugle corps.
